Ice Cream and Custard Pies Factory – Model Photos

Finally got around to taken photographs of a 3D colour model we made after finishing our Masters in Architecture. It’s a model of an architectural project that I did with fellow Westminster graduate Bongani Muchemwa which was our first building in the final year of the course. View the animation that accompanies the project here .

Drawn in Microstation/AutoCAD and 3D modelled and UV mapped textures in Rhinoceros. The thin nature of the structure (based on scaffolding) measures 2mm at this scale which pushed the materials used to their limit. The model is made from plaster of paris printed on a 3D machine with colour and covered in epoxy resin to give it strength. It measures around 1m by 1.5m, and was printed in several 20cm x 20cm x 18cm sections.

Balloon Inflation

Animation test inflating and deflating a balloon attached to some string. All surfaces are ncloths, the balloons are based on the beach ball preset and the string on the denim preset (the less stretch of the string the better to constrain the balloons in place).

AFH Pre-vis Shot Over London

Still_Shot_1

Shot from the first draft of a pre-vis animations to promote Ideas on a Postcard, Please testing out the shot possibilities over London from Tower Bridge. A lot more to be added on this one, how to make the new additions to the skyline clearer? More balloons? Or markers Google Map style

In the animation (yet to be modelled/textured/animated):

Green = Garden

Red = Moving Objects

Yellow = nCloth/Rigid Bodies

AFH Pre-vis for Opening Shot

Shot from the first draft of a pre-vis animation to promote Ideas on a Postcard, Please. The shot starts in Oxford Circus following the mobile garden, onto a street fair, added greenery and public gardens on rooftops then followed by flying umbrellas landing across London (that pre-vis bit’s in progress). The umbrellas flying across the rooftops of London will be used to link up different shots across the capital. Or the red ball that just rolls around the streets.

In the animation (yet to be modelled/textured/animated):

Green = Garden

Red = Moving Objects

Orange = nCloth/Rigid Bodies

Traffic Cone Bounce

A small but growing collective of animation tests for two works in progress for AFH (Architecture for Humanity) to promote their Ideas on a Postcard scheme. The project aims to be an annual event in which designers, architects and the general public are invited to sketch/draw/render or write an idea on to the back of a postcard which will benefit and improve the lives of Londoners. I’m currently working on an animation that will promote this project, whilst the second animation for this project will be used to raise funds for the highest voted project which will be built and installed.
